About Us

Grief Cabin is here because I know what it is to have grief change the shape of your life. To uproot everything inside you, and find question after question, all met with shimmering particles of hope and uncertainty floating like specks of dust in the air around you.

After losing my mom, I learned that grief isn't something you simply move on from. It becomes part of the landscape. Some days its quiet, some days it takes up the whole room.

And while the world is very good at teling us how to handle grief, I wanted something simpler.

SPACE.

A place where nobody needed to fix you. Or have you "better" within a certain timeframe.

A place with no advice, or platitudes.

A place where you could say the thing you don't know how to say. write it down, or say nothing at all.

So I made one.

What Happens at Grief Cabin

We use simple, guided writing prompts to give grief somewhere to land.

You don't need to consider yourself a writer. You don't need to be good at writing. You don't need to share anything you put on the page.

The writing is simply a way in.

From there, we make room for conversation, silence, tears, laughter, listening, and whatever else comes with being human.

There is no perfect way to grieve.

There is no timeline.

What Grief Cabin isn't

It isn't therapy.

It isn't a class on how to grieve.

It isn't a place where someone will tell you how you should be feeling.

And it definitely isn't a place where we're going to tell you everything happens for a reason.

We don't teach you how to grieve.

We make room for you to grieve.

Come and go as you need.

THIS IS THE WORK

No right words.

no timeline.

no fixing.

no platitudes.

Founder

I'm Ashley, and I'm guiding this thing. You don't really need to know me, this is your own personal process. Just know I am for you, I believe in taking up space, and that when someone enters grief there should be much more space made because you're about to be made into an entirely new version of yourself.

My own grief journey has made me acutely aware of that.
